Buying was made more tricky for AW18 due to the snow. We were booked to fly out of Bristol to Paris on the Friday evening after work, but the forecast of 'The Beast from the East' was for heavy snow and so after a few frantic calls to the airline Kels and I brought our trip forward two days. For those of you that know me well you'll appreciate the fact that I like to prepare and plan every little detail - so this last minute dash flying around with only an hour to pack a bag, print off boarding passes, lock up the shop (no staff to cover as such short notice!) and fine a hotel was not ideal.
However once in Paris we had a night cap and a giggle, and started buying for AW18 the following morning. We have been coming to Paris now for ten years and so it feels like an extension of home. We had two or three parties to attend, including the opening of Chloe Stora's first store. Chloe Stora is a new label for us, and so we were delighted to go down to the Left Bank on the opening night and have a glass of champagne to toast their success.
We love to go to Paris to view collections that dont show in the UK - this means that Coco Blue has a curated selection of labels that are a little off the beaten track and hopefully will surprise customers. We have now finished our buying for AW18 and can't wait for it all to arrive - new labels include Sibin Linnenberg, a fantastic collection from Denmark of knitwear which is wearable yet stylish, and Dea Kudibal, another Scandi brand but this time washable silk blouses for that desk to evening look. We also picked up a new Italian handbag label to sit alongside Campomaggi. Roll on July when all our goodies will start to arrive!
